  1. Day 1

Arrive in Hokkaido and continue to Furano

Meet the private car and accompanying guide at New Chitose. Continue to the Furano area for lunch, the flower fields around Farm Tomita and, if arranged, a visit connected with local wine. Stay in Furano.

  2. Day 2

    Biei’s landscapes

Spend the day around Biei, considering the Blue Pond, Shirahige Falls, flower gardens and the patchwork countryside. Return towards Furano, with Ningle Terrace as an evening option.

  3. Day 3

    North to Wakkanai

Set aside the day for the long drive north, with breaks along the way. Visit Cape Soya and the Wakkanai area as arrival time and weather allow, then stay overnight near the next day’s ferry connection.

  4. Day 4

    Cross to Rebun

Take the ferry to Kafuka on Rebun. A privately guided nature walk around the Momoiwa–Shiretoko route introduces the island’s landscapes; the length is chosen for the guests’ fitness and conditions. Stay on Rebun.

  5. Day 5

    Rebun’s northern capes

Explore towards Cape Sukoton and Cape Sukai, with local seafood and the Kita no Canaria Park among the options. Experienced walkers may discuss a longer cape route; a gentler day keeps more time for stops and views.

  6. Day 6

    Across to Rishiri

Cross by ferry to Oshidomari on Rishiri. Consider a half-day island circuit around Himenuma, Otatomari Pond and the coast, with an optional sea-urchin experience if a host is available. Stay on Rishiri.

  7. Day 7

    A last island morning

Choose a short walk or an introduction to Rishiri kelp culture before the planned flight to New Chitose. Seasonal flights and weather determine the connection; allow flexibility in onward arrangements.

Adapting the journey

  • By rail to the north

Discuss travelling via Asahikawa and the limited-express service to Wakkanai instead of the long road transfer.

  • More time on Rishiri

Add an island night if guests want to discuss a longer mountain route with a specialist guide.

  • Add Otaru

Extend before or after the journey with an Otaru stay, checking transport connections for the chosen dates.

Notes for planners

Season
Plan for June to September, particularly early to mid-July. Flowering, seasonal services and accommodation opening dates must be checked each year.
Walking
Choose routes for the guests’ fitness, footwear and weather. Longer walks are optional; guides decide what is suitable on the day.
Long transfer
Furano to Wakkanai is a substantial travel day. Discuss the guests’ tolerance for road travel and whether an extra night would help.
Ferries and flights
Fog, wind and sea conditions can affect connections. We plan alternatives and discuss a buffer before any international flight.
Hosts and stays
Guide languages, local experiences and rooms are confirmed per request. Accommodation styles differ between the mainland and the smaller islands.
Rates
Quoted per request, with summer availability, transport and the guiding arrangement taken into account.

A few more starting points, each with its own rhythm.
